High-intensity interval training, or HIIT, has become a hot topic in the fitness industry due to the efficiency and results this type of workout can provide. When done correctly, HIIT has the potential to burn a high number of calories in a minimal amount of time. The key: high intensity followed by a rest period that allows you to recover just enough so that you are able to complete another round of high intensity moves.
Along with HIIT, fusion group fitness classes are also popular because they allow for more variety. Lauri Hill, a National Presenter for NETA, demonstrates in the video above how to incorporate HIIT and yoga for a complete workout. She starts with a 60-second high intensity move and offers two variations (one less intense, one more intense), followed by a 30-second recovery in a simple star pose.
