Thursday, February 15
Our intensive, two-day Yoga Foundations workshop provides hands-on experience in teaching beginner yoga formats through a breakdown of 20 poses focused on alignment, safety, variations and breathing techniques. In addition to the basics of class formatting, you’ll discuss yoga history through exploration of the 8 limbs, learn the anatomy and physiology of the nervous and respiratory systems, as well as discover ways to encourage and motivate your participants through verbal refinements and inclusive cuing. This certification will provide two sample beginning yoga classes as well as time for practice under the supervision of an experienced yoga teacher.
Presenter: Deanna Reiter started coaching in 1996 and became certified as a personal trainer in 2004. She has a B.S. and Master’s degree, and her certifications include: USATF Coach, ACE Personal Trainer, Group Exercise, Pilates, Yoga, BOSU and Kettlebell. She has been a master trainer with NETA since 2005. Deanna has written many NETA home study programs including: Dancing with Divinity, Movement through the Chakras, Running A to Z and the Ultimate Guide to Wellness.

Heart rate variability (HRV) is a biological marker of how well the autonomic nervous system is working, and is an indicator of physiological health and risk of chronic disease. Understanding the importance of a well-functioning autonomic nervous system and how to decrease risk of chronic disease is an important tool for fitness professionals to better reach participants and clients. This one-hour workshop will differentiate between heart rate measurements and variability and provide an understanding of the importance of this biological marker.

Facilitating a healthy fascia is a trending focus for many fitness professionals. But in what ways – if any – is the fascial system affected by a yoga practice? This presentation will focus on an “eight dimensions of wellness” model, ways in which we might be our own worst enemy, and action steps for balancing our personal wellness wheel.

NETA’s Running Coach Specialty Certification provides the foundational knowledge and practical application skills for fitness professionals to develop programming and effectively coach clients seeking to improve their running performance. This workshop will explore the science behind running, identifying physical and physiological demands on, and benefits for, the body. Programming and drill work for both linear speed and endurance running will be explored, with tips on identifying and correcting form inefficiencies. Nutrition, hydration, footwear, and motivation will be discussed. NETA’s Personal Trainer Certification Review Virtual Workshop features up to 12 hours of interactive lecture and discussion. The virtual review workshop provides an excellent opportunity to put the final touches on your exam preparations and to interact with one of NETA’s well-qualified national presenters.
Virtual workshop registration includes the Premier Plus Study Package (The Fitness Professional’s Manual, Workbook, Practice Exam, and Online Review Modules) and the computer-based Personal Trainer Certification Exam administered via live remote online proctoring with ProctorU.

Restorative yoga is a way to experience true relaxation. As stress and tension are released, healing and upliftment are promoted in body, mind, and spirit.
