NETA’s intensive Yoga Foundations blended learning specialty certification includes a two components: a self-paced online module and a live instructor-led clinic. Participants must complete the Yoga Foundations online module prior to attending the live, 6-hour pose clinic.
The online module provides a practical and interactive experience in teaching beginner yoga formats through learning the basics of class formatting, yoga history and exploration of the 8 limbs, anatomy and physiology of the nervous and respiratory systems, and how to encourage and motivate your participants through verbal refinements and inclusive cuing. The required pose clinic breaks down 20 foundational poses, focusing on alignment, safety, variations, and breathing, equipping participants to sequence and lead a beginning-level yoga class.
This specialty certification will provide two sample beginning yoga classes as well as time for practice all led by an experienced yoga teacher. Yoga Foundations is the first required course for NETA’s 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program or it can be taken as a stand-alone Specialty Certification.
Please note that BOTH the 14-hour Yoga Foundations online module AND the 6-hour Yoga Foundations pose clinic must be completed, along with an open-note online exam in order to receive the specialty certificate and 20 continuing education credits.
*Yoga Foundations can be taken as a stand-alone specialty certification and/or can be taken as part of the 200 Hour Yoga Program approved by Yoga Alliance.
