Fitness Yoga Specialty Certification
The intensive-two day Fitness Yoga Specialty Certification provides hands-on experience in teaching multi-level, flow-based yoga classes in the fitness center environment. Expanding on the poses taught in Yoga Foundations, students will learn the foundation, alignment, purpose, safety, and variations of 15 additional yoga poses, along with multiple regressions and progressions for each. Instruction goes in-depth into anatomy of the muscular and skeletal systems as it relates to asana demonstration, and providing a foundation for the basic techniques behind sequencing classes for safety and balance.
The Fitness Yoga certification workshop will provide a deeper exploration of Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga history and how the eight essential practices may be demonstrated in yoga practice and in life. In addition, students will discover ways to better relate to a main-stream fitness-focused audience, communicate with said audience, and educate and inspire others on the principles of yoga practice.
This yoga specialty certification will provide two sample yoga classes for participants to experience different formatting and teaching styles, as well as ample time for practice teaching under the supervision of an experienced yoga teacher. Upon completion of the two-day Fitness Yoga workshop, participants are equipped to create and lead their very own vinyasa based flow practice.
Fitness Yoga can be taken as a stand-alone specialty certification to achieve your yoga instructor certification and teach fitness yoga classes and/or can be taken as part of NETA’s 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program.
