Intermediate Yoga Specialty Certification
NETA’s two-day Intermediate Yoga Specialty Certification workshop is for yoga instructors seeking to take their teaching to the next level. The Intermediate Yoga workshop builds on the basic poses taught in Yoga Foundations introducing intermediate- and advanced-level poses to the practice with emphasis on foundation, alignment, safety, benefits, and modifications. A deeper look at yoga history and philosophy, to include a study of the chakras, will enhance participants’ ability to provide a holistic experience for students.
Participants in this workshop will learn the benefits, contraindications, and basics of teaching inversion and arm-balance poses. A deep dive into alignment will be provided with the discussion of loops, spirals and bandhas. This workshop will also introduce the art of hands-on assists, with exploration of methods to enhance a student’s practice while maintaining a safe space for all. Participants will hone the ability to demonstrate leadership and communication skills through physical and verbal cueing.
This yoga specialty certification will provide two sample yoga classes for participants to experience different formatting and teaching styles, as well as ample time for practice teaching under the supervision of an experienced yoga teacher. Upon completion of the two-day Intermediate Yoga workshop, participants are equipped to enhance their teaching practice through intermediate poses and assists.
Intermediate Yoga can be taken as a stand-alone specialty certification, with the pre-requisite of a foundational level certification, and/or can be taken as part of NETA’s 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program.
