Prenatal Yoga Specialty Certification
NETA’s ten-hour, one-day Prenatal Yoga Specialty Certification workshop provides instructors with the basic techniques necessary to adapt their traditional yoga classes to be safe and effective for expecting participants. This workshop will review the suggested flow of a yoga class, with an emphasis on the adaptations that may be necessary for a prenatal participant at each stage. The benefits of a yoga practice during pregnancy will be examined, informing the instructor on how better program and cue their classes to enhance these benefits.
The anatomical and physiological changes a mother experiences throughout pregnancy will be discussed with application as to how this will affect their yoga practice. General safety concerns and specific contraindications will be reviewed. The foundation, alignment, safety, benefits, and modifications of adapted poses will be provided, along with exercises specific for pregnant participants, to include partner-based activities, mudras, and affirmations.
This yoga specialty certification will provide a sample yoga class for participants to experience a prenatal class with partner work, as well as ample time for practice teaching under the supervision of an experienced yoga teacher. Upon completion of the one-day Prenatal Yoga certification workshop, participants are equipped to create and lead a prenatal yoga practice.
While it is highly recommended to take NETA’s Yoga Foundations Specialty Certification first, Prenatal Yoga can be taken as a stand-alone specialty certification to achieve your yoga instructor certification and teach prenatal yoga classes and/or can be taken as part of NETA’s 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program.
