Facilitating a healthy fascia is a trending focus for many fitness professionals. But in what ways – if any – is the fascial system affected by a yoga practice? This one-hour workshop will provide a review of what we know of the fascia with current research, and discuss how yoga can enhance functionality of not just specific muscles and joints, but kinetic chains through targeting the fascia that interconnects the body.

In yoga, the use of language is especially important, and sometimes creates a challenge for instructors used to cueing higher intensity classes. This workshop will discuss the importance of effective cueing, the use of action and descriptive verbiage, and how to create different atmospheres and mindsets within a class.

Take your teaching to the next level with NETA’s Intermediate Yoga Certification. Learn to safely introduce intermediate and advanced poses, provide hands on assists and discover ways to fine-tune your alignment cues. Participants will have the opportunity to plan and lead a mini-class, practice intermediate postures with feedback from a live instructor, and dig deep into yoga history and philosophy.
*Completion of NETA’s Yoga Foundations Specialty Certification is a prerequisite for Intermediate Yoga.
Presenter: Jennifer Turpin Stanfield is a professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. She received her master’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from The Ohio State University. She is a certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine and a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher (E-RYT 200). She also holds the NETA-PT and ACE-GFI credentials. She is passionate about helping others pursue better health and wellness through the adoption of positive health behaviors.

Register NowYoga practice has long been recognized as a means of improving mindfulness, but the benefits of yoga on the brain extend beyond a mind-body connection. A growing body of research points to yoga as a means of enhancing mental clarity and focus; increasing cognitive function; and improving attention, memory, and overall cognitive processing. Further, yoga has been shown to improve executive function and working memory in older adults and support neuroplasticity and brain health in aging individuals. This three-hour workshop will dive into the research surrounding yoga and cognitive function, identifying specific practices that may be incorporated into class programming to support the brain health of participants of all ages and stages of life.

Restorative yoga is a way to experience true relaxation. As stress and tension are released, healing and upliftment are promoted in body, mind, and spirit. In this workshop, participants will learn a series of restorative yoga poses, modifications and prop variations needed for students with special conditions. Participants will also practice Yoga Nidra, and participate in hands-on teaching sessions.

This three-hour workshop offers a holistic approach to supporting women through the menopause transition, using the ancient wisdom of yoga and the koshas-the five layers of being. Participants will explore how menopause affects each kosha, including the physical, energetic, mental, wisdom, and bliss bodies. In menopause yoga, we will use asana, breath work, meditation, and self-inquiry to learn how to balance and nurture ourselves.

April 19-20
NETA’s intensive Yoga Foundations blended learning specialty certification includes a two components: a self-paced online module and a live instructor-led clinic. Participants must complete the Yoga Foundations online module prior to attending the live, 6-hour pose clinic.
The online module provides a practical and interactive experience in teaching beginner yoga formats through learning the basics of class formatting, yoga history and exploration of the 8 limbs, anatomy and physiology of the nervous and respiratory systems, and how to encourage and motivate your participants through verbal refinements and inclusive cuing. The required pose clinic breaks down 20 foundational poses, focusing on alignment, safety, variations, and breathing, equipping participants to sequence and lead a beginning-level yoga class.
This specialty certification will provide two sample beginning yoga classes as well as time for practice all led by an experienced yoga teacher. Yoga Foundations is the first required course for NETA’s 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program or it can be taken as a stand-alone Specialty Certification.
Please note that BOTH the 14-hour Yoga Foundations online module AND the 6-hour Yoga Foundations pose clinic must be completed, along with an open-note online exam in order to receive the specialty certificate and 20 continuing education credits.

In NETA’s Advanced Certification for Yoga Teachers, participants will apply learning from the 200-hour training program to practice teaching, skills assessments, final projects and a cumulative final exam. This course serves as the final preparatory step for teachers wishing to apply for Yoga Alliance registration. Participants can expect to dig even deeper into anatomy and physiology, cuing, and leadership, as well as yoga history and philosophy.
The Advanced Yoga Certification must be taken as the last course in the 200 HR NETA Yoga Certification track.

Register NowLong hours, heavy workloads, job insecurity, and conflicts with co-workers are all factors of increased stress in the workplace, leading to physical manifestations of pain and chronic disease, and cognitive, social, and emotional burnout. Yoga practices can aid in alleviating the signs and symptoms of workplace stress, while equipping the individual to better deal with the day-to-day stressors themselves.
