Facilitating a healthy fascia is a trending focus for many fitness professionals. But in what ways – if any – is the fascial system affected by a yoga practice? This one-hour workshop will provide a review of what we know of the fascia with current research, and discuss how yoga can enhance functionality of not just specific muscles and joints, but kinetic chains through targeting the fascia that interconnects the body.
Presenter: Darci Revier is currently NETA’s Director of Education. She obtained her doctorate in Health Science and Exercise Leadership from California University of Pennsylvania and holds certifications through the NSCA, ACE, NASM, and USAW. She began working in fitness, nutrition and health promotion with members of the United States Marine Corps in 2008, has been presenting for NETA since 2015, and joined NETA’s team full time in 2018. Register NowLong hours, heavy workloads, job insecurity, and conflicts with co-workers are all factors of increased stress in the workplace, leading to physical manifestations of pain and chronic disease, and cognitive, social, and emotional burnout. Yoga practices can aid in alleviating the signs and symptoms of workplace stress, while equipping the individual to better deal with the day-to-day stressors themselves. This workshop will identify specific elements of yoga to alleviate and deal with stress; workplace-friendly practices to be done individually or as a group; and strategies for marketing oneself in a corporate setting.
Presenter: Dr. Cayla McAvoy is a graduate of Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!) who earned her B.S. in Kinesiology and then M.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Central Florida. Cayla earned her Ph.D. in Public Health Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2023 and currently is a physical activity researcher. She is an ACSM- Certified Exercise Physiologist, NETA Group Fitness Instructor, and 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Register NowHigh intensity interval training (HIIT) is fun, effective, and challenging for all. Yoga is the practice of poses that combines deep, meditative breathing with slow strengthening movements which is incredibly healthy for your mind, body, and spirit. Fusing these two seemingly different formats together is clearly a “win-win” approach for successful cardiovascular exercise improvement and overall performance thus, we have ‘HIIT it with Yoga’.
Presenter: Lauri Hill has humbly served as a health and wellness leader for over 20 years. As a master trainer for Neta since 2008 Lauri thinks outside the box when designing both group and individual fitness programs. She is the creator of equine barre and yoga, the only program of its kind. Through advanced knowledge and training she has expanded the traditional understanding of fitness and exercise to encompass wellness of mind, body, and spirit. Presenter: Deanna started coaching in 1996 and became certified as a personal trainer in 2004. She has a B.S. and Master’s degree, and her certifications include: USATF Coach, ACE Personal Trainer, Group Exercise, Pilates, Yoga, BOSU and Kettlebell. She has been a master trainer with NETA since 2005. Deanna has written many NETA home study programs including: Dancing with Divinity, Movement through the Chakras, Running A to Z and the Ultimate Guide to Wellness.

Register NowRestorative yoga is a way to experience true relaxation. As stress and tension are released, healing and upliftment are promoted in body, mind, and spirit. In this workshop, participants will learn a series of restorative yoga poses, modifications and prop variations needed for students with special conditions. Participants will also practice Yoga Nidra, and participate in hands-on teaching sessions.

Register NowSuspension trainers can act as the ultimate yoga prop, providing additional or assisted stretching like a yoga strap, making poses more accessible and enhancing alignment like a block or bolster, and challenging balance in a whole new way. From those with restricted mobility needing assistance in alignment, to older adults desiring alternatives to a floor-based class, to intermediate and advanced participants seeking a more challenging flow; this workshop will educate the yoga instructor on the many uses of a suspension trainer, equipping them to create effective and enjoyable flows for participants of all levels and abilities.

Register NowBack problems are common in the general fitness populations, especially as age increases. While a yoga practice can greatly improve ailments such as back pain, care must be taken to proper modify and instruct poses and flows to protect and strengthen, rather than aggravate and exacerbate. Learn ways to modify an all-levels vinyasa practice to keep flowing while reducing or eliminating back pain.
Presenter: Terrie Thoma is an RYT-500 yoga instructor and RYT-200 NETA Yoga Teacher, with an 18-year personal practice and online studio focusing on Vinyasa, Restorative, Chair, and Gentle Yoga formats. Terrie holds an MBA from Northeastern University, and is an AFAA-certified Group Fitness Instructor.

Register NowIt’s estimated that one-third of participants in a mainstream yoga class have experienced significant trauma. In this workshop, yoga’s effects on the autonomic nervous system will be examined, as well as recommended practices and contraindicated positions. Class and instructor considerations will also be addressed, providing participants with the insight to handle victims of trauma in a mainstream class.
Presenter: Angie obtained her MBA Sports Management Degree at Tiffin University and holds certifications in NETA, ACE, Zumba, and Tai Chi. Angie began working in the fitness industry 20 years ago and has continued to build her career through her own business. She is an affiliate owner of Rock Steady Boxing, is the Wellness Director for the YMCA of Sandusky County and also teaches fitness classes at Terra State Community College where she developed seven Health and Physical Education programs for the college students. NETA’s Kids Yoga workshop is a fun, interactive and educational experience. This kids’ yoga training is designed to help yoga teachers and fitness professionals create an easy bridge to adapting classes to a younger audience. This training will provide an overview of child development, hands-on practice in storytelling and teaching, as well as address ways to creatively and effectively manage a class of young practitioners.
Presenter: Jennifer has a MA in Health Coaching from the University of Maryland School of Integrative Health. She is a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach, ACE Group Fitness Instructor, ACSM Personal Trainer, 200-hour RYT and NETA Pilates Instructor. Her background includes coaching clients on metabolism, behavior change, nutrition, fitness, sleep and stress management. She currently teaches Cycling, Pilates, Yoga and HIIT for Plus One. Her goal is help clients of all ages and abilities feel their best by providing guidance and accountability to help them achieve their wellness vision.

In addition to her yoga experience and certifications, Carrie has a doctorate in Health Promotion from the University of Kentucky, and holds ACE’s Group Fitness Instructor and Medical Exercise Specialist certifications and is an ACSM’s Certified Exercise Physiologist.
